Cancer Society Chooses Recycle Frog’s Gold Drive Program; Hosts First Fundraiser

OTTAWA – May 11, 2010 – Recycle Frog, a next generation, direct-to-consumer precious metals recycling company, today announced that the Cancer Society, a national, community-based organization of volunteers whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer, has selected Recycle Frog’s Gold Drive™ program to help raise needed contributions used towards creating a world where no Canadian fears cancer. The first public event is scheduled for May 15, 16 at the Dovercourt Recreation Centre in Ottawa. Recycle Frog will boost the fundraising campaign by matching all contributions dollar-for-dollar.

“We’re excited Recycle Frog is hosting its first Gold Drive fundraising event to benefit our organization and the people who need our support,” said Beth Dimsdale, Fundraising Coordinator, Ottawa Unit, Canadian Cancer Society. “This innovative fundraising event gives people the opportunity to get rid of their unwanted gold, silver and platinum and get paid more than anywhere in the city. What people don’t realize is that unlike most fundraising activities where people are asked to give money, Gold Drives actually put money in their pocket and every transaction generates a contribution that goes directly towards those with cancer in our community. It’s a wonderful initiative.”

The first of many Gold Drive fundraisers is also Recycle Frog’s first truly public event. It’s an innovative way to raise significant contributions in which people get paid to recycle their unwanted gold and silver jewellery while simultaneously raising proceeds that go towards fighting cancer in our community.

When: Saturday May 15th through Sunday, May 16th, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Where: Dovercourt Recreation Centre, 411 Dovercourt Avenue, Ottawa

“We’re extremely proud to partner with an organization that is passionate, considerate and empathetic toward those individuals and families touched by cancer,” said Matthew MacQuarrie, President, Recycle Frog. “Like the Cancer Society, we believe that all people should be treated with consideration and dignity, and that’s precisely why Recycle Frog is going to help enhance their fundraising efforts through our Gold Drive program.”

The Canadian Cancer Society joins a growing number of local and nationally recognized organizations, including the CHEO Foundation and the United Way Ottawa that have chosen Recycle Frog’s Gold Drive fundraisers to boost their outreach and results.
