Recycle Frog Teams up with Children at Risk to Host Gold Drive Fundraiser

OTTAWA – April 6, 2010 – Recycle Frog, a next generation, direct-to-consumer precious metals recycling company, today announced that Children at Risk, an organization that provides services to families with children diagnosed within the Autism Spectrum Disorders, has added Recycle Frog’s Gold Drive™ program to their 2010 fundraising activities. The first event will take place during their 9th Annual “Rockin’ for Risk”, Ottawa’s best and biggest Rock ‘n Roll Dance Party. Recycle Frog will match all Gold Drive contributions raised during this event on a dollar-for-dollar.

“For over 31 years, Children at Risk has been providing important services that support the development of a child’s behavioural, communications and social skills, and advocates for their ongoing needs,” said Matthew MacQuarrie, President, Recycle Frog. “Their community–based special projects are financed through donations and fundraising, and that’s precisely where we think Recycle Frog can help. We’re extremely pleased that they have chosen our innovative program to help boost their fundraising efforts.”

The “Rockin’ for Risk” fundraising event is a 50’s/60’s/70’s-style rock & roll dance party that will feature live classic rock sounds of local band Intersection, contests, prizes, as well as a raffle and silent auction. New this year is Recycle Frog’s Gold Drive in which people will get paid to recycle their unwanted gold and silver jewellery while simultaneously raising campaign contributions. The evening would not be complete without special guest Shawn Barry, Ottawa’s premier Elvis tribute artist.

When: Saturday, April 10 – 7:30 PM to 12:30 AM (Doors Open at 7 PM)
Where: Algonquin College, Building D Cafeteria – Woodroffe & Baseline Campus
How: Tickets – $25 advance, $30 door, $225 Table of Ten (advance sales only) – call 741-8255 or go to for retail sale locations

“We’re excited to partner with Recycle Frog to host our first ever Gold Drive fundraising event,” said Brenda Reisch, Executive Director, Children at Risk. “Adding this innovative fundraising event gives party goers an opportunity to participate by gathering their unwanted gold, silver and platinum and bring it in for an expert evaluation. What’s amazing is that today’s gold prices, a little goes a surprisingly long way and every little bit helps, literally. And unlike most fundraising activities where people are asked to give money, the Gold Drive actually puts money in their pockets instead. What’s best is that every transaction will generate a contribution that goes directly towards helping us continue to support children with autism.”

Children at Risk compliments a growing number of local and nationally recognized organizations that have chosen Recycle Frog’s Gold Drive fundraisers to boost their outreach and results including the CHEO Foundation, United Way Ottawa and the Christmas Exchange.

Media professionals interested in attending these events are encouraged to contact David Martinek at to arrange access or an individual interview.

About Gold Drives™
A Recycle Frog Gold Drive is a simple, innovative fundraising event unlike any other. It provides employees, individuals and charitable organizations with a safe, convenient and financially rewarding way to recycle unworn or broken gold jewellery while supporting the chosen cause. The true power of the program lies in its ability to generate high value transactions that simultaneously benefit the fundraising campaign and its participants. No other program allows people to walk away with money in their pockets while supporting their charitable campaign. Consumers and organizations can also take comfort in knowing Recycle Frog customer payouts are independently verified with specified audit procedures performed by PricewaterhouseCoopers.

About Children at Risk
Children at Risk was incorporated as a charitable organization in 1979. It provides services in the Greater Ottawa area to families with children diagnosed within the Autism Spectrum Disorders. These children are “at risk” of not developing to their full potential if they do not receive early intensive intervention implemented skillfully and diligently. By developing a child’s skills to overcome behavioural, communication and social problems at the onset, they stand to achieve their full potential. This will enhance family life and community participation. For more information visit
